"Deep Shadows"
(The Remnant Series #1)
by Vannetta Chapman!
GIVEAWAY!

All It Takes Is One Night
to Plunge the World into Darkness

Life in Abney, Texas, is predictable and safe--until the night a massive solar flare wipes out all modern technology.

Shelby Sparks, novelist and single mom, had one goal: to provide for her diabetic son. In the wake of this global disaster, her mission hasn't changed. Only now, medication is a priceless commodity and the future resembles an apocalyptic nightmare.

Max Berkman and Shelby were once sweethearts, but he lost his chance at claiming her love years ago. When the abrupt loss of power ushers him into a leadership role, he rises to the occasion. But his highest priority--to keep Shelby and her son safe--could prove to be the biggest challenge of all.

As the brilliant northern lights give way to deep shadows, Max and Shelby's faith will be tested like never before. Only one rule remains: Find a way to survive.

In this first book in an eerily plausible dystopian series, a memorable cast of characters must navigate a familiar world thrown into chaos.

My thoughts ~

Deep Shadows may very well be Ms. Chapman's best achievement yet! This dystopian novel is staggering, so realistic that when I laid the book aside, I fully expected conditions from the book to be actual! I was forced to look at the world around me differently, and expected to discover my surroundings as they are described in this powerful novel.

The author has portrayed a terrifying fictitious event in a dramatic yet realistic manner. The events depicted in this novel are very real possibilities. I found myself inspecting power lines in an atypical manner, unlike any other time in my life. Deep Shadows changed the way I see the world, and the importance of modifications in our lifestyles for self preservation.

Characters throughout this novel are realistic and respond to their surroundings and current events in the most expected and humanistic manner. Abney, Texas is a representation of any small community, and the residents presented are authentic to their circumstances. An incident of such magnitude brings out the worst and the best in the residents of Abney. Compassion and benevolence among neighbors is admirable, and hysteria, violence and hatred in others exhibits the true nature of humans under extreme duress.

I highly recommend Deep Shadows! This is no ordinary story. It is reality fiction at its best, and everyone from young adults to the elderly can relate to the possibilities this powerful novel represents. Impressive!
