My Perspective ~
Jody Hedlund's newest series begins with the novella, "An Awakened Heart," prequel to the Orphan Train Series. Characters are developed, with in-depth background information for the series. The setting is 1850s New York inner city, home to poverty stricken immigrants. Their living situations are grim with next to nothing to nourish themselves and their families.Thugs lurk around every corner, and jobs are slim to nothing. The realities revealed in this prequel to the Orphan Train series are poignant and realistic.
I highly recommend reading this novella before embarking on the journey of "With You Always." You'll have a much greater understanding of the characters and events that ensue.
