Description

In the concluding novel to the Apple Creek Dreams series, Jonathan and Jenny Hershberger are happily settled in Paradise, Pennsylvania on the farm Jenny inherited from her grandfather.  But when a tragic accident takes Jonathan’s life, Jenny and her young daughter, Rachel, return home to Apple Creek, Ohio to live with her adoptive parents, Reuben and Jerusha Springer.  As Jenny works through her grief and despair, she discovers she has a gift for writing.  A handsome young publisher discovers her work and, two books later, Jenny is on the verge of worldly success and possible romance.  But when a conflict arises with the elders of her church, Jenny must ask herself how far she’s willing to go to pursue her dreams.
A touching story of devotion and triumph over adversity.

My Review ~
"Jenny's Choice" is the third and final installment of the Apple Creek Dreams Series, and the story has come full circle. It is the summation of Jenny's journey through life, and the events that have molded her into the woman she has become. Jenny possesses a penchant for writing, and after great tragedy threatens her entire existence she eventually begins journaling. Restoration begins as the floodgates of her soul open and she places her stories and thoughts on paper.

The magnitude of her grief is reflected through much of her writing, and the story behind her mother's Rose of Sharon quilt and everything it represented gives credence to the depth of her mother's faith. She continues with her father's story, his strength of character and the devotion he possessed through time in the military and his renascence into the Amish community. His faith and his love for his family were unprecedented, quietly reflected by a glimmer in his eyes. The magnitude of Jenny's love for Jonathan is poignant, and their daughter, Rachel, is the symbol of their love.

"Jenny's Choice" is absorbing, a story told with such strength and depth of feeling that I walked hand in hand with Jenny throughout the events in her life story. Patrick E. Craig is masterful at creating a work of fictional art that evokes the most sensitive emotions, revealing endearing characters with intensity and perception. His voice throughout this series reveals a deep spiritual relationship with God, and a faith that flows into his characters. Patrick is a proficient author who brings the written word to life and reveals the innermost feelings and sensitivity through his characters. The life stories of Jenny's family and their relationships and devotion to one another developed into masterpieces of character.
